An engineer who writes to make you smile

Sunil Bhatambrekar is a Mechanical Engineer and Designer by profession, with over 42 years of experience in the engineering industry. He has also completed an MBA in Marketing. During his career, he has led numerous design and engineering projects, with particular experience in machine tool design and automotive wheel rim design. He has also headed Operational Excellence, overseeing the monitoring and improvement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics across various functions of an organisation.

As part of teams of inventors, he has also been granted patents under Intellectual Property Rights, reflecting his involvement in engineering innovation and product development.

He is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt Trainer and a former member of a BIS Technical Committee. His association with academia includes student mentoring, project evaluation, curriculum advisory roles and guest lectures at engineering institutions.

During his professional career, he has travelled extensively across many countries, gaining exposure to diverse engineering practices, industrial environments, cultures and ways of working.

Beyond engineering, Sunil has a keen interest in various forms of art and creative expression. He enjoys drawing and painting and has created numerous portraits, pencil sketches and landscapes. He also explores calligraphy, cartoons and caricatures, continually experimenting with different forms and styles of visual expression.

Writing is another important part of his creative journey. He has authored several books, primarily in Marathi, covering humorous essays, human characters, translations, poetry and other literary forms. His writings in both Marathi and English have appeared regularly in newspapers, magazines, Diwali special editions (Diwali Ank) and other publications.

His literary work has also been broadcast on All India Radio on several occasions. His interviews, lectures and speeches delivered at academic and other institutions are available through various social media platforms.

For Sunil, engineering and creativity are not separate worlds. Design, art, writing and innovation are different ways of observing the world, understanding people and expressing ideas.
